Ethical Issues and Regulatory Bodies

Ethical Issues and Regulatory Bodies

Ethics in media is about doing the right/moral thing. Something may be legally correct, but is it the right thing to do? For example, referencing someone in a bad manor, but not naming them.

Considering the ethical impact of a media product is important to ensure the product doesn't cause offence or bother those using/consuming it

some of the areas that effect ethics in media are:
codes of practice
 privacy rights
 public interests
 levels of violence
 representation of groups
discrimination
 work with children

What is this about?
Hackers accessing peoples private data and sharing it by hacking their phone

Are these legal or ethical issues?
At the time, these were not illegal and people did not know the danger of hacking. They were ethical because it is morally wrong
